Emergency Prescription Requests

If you are visiting the area and require a supply of your usual medication, please see the information below:

Scottish Residents:

Please visit the local Community Pharmacy, in Ullapool this is Boots Pharmacy on Shore Street. An emergency supply may be issued to a maximum of one full repeat cycle at the Pharmacist’s discretion. The Pharmacist may ask you to contact your regular GP surgery to confirm your details. There will be no charge for this service.

UK Resident (outwith Scotland):

Please visit the local Community Pharmacy. An emergency supply may be issued for up to 30 days at the Pharmacist’s discretion. The Pharmacist may ask you to contact your regular GP Practice to request a prescription to be faxed or emailed to them; this will maintain your care under the NHS therefore you will be liable to the cost as per your usual payment arrangements. If a prescription is not available, you will be charged for the cost of the item. Please liaise directly with the Pharmacy for current pricing.

Please note that if you require certain drugs including controlled medications, strong pain killers, benzodiazepines etc. these are not available through community pharmacy emergency supply arrangements and our Drs will insist on you making contact with your own Dr before issuing a prescription. Please allow a longer processing time if this is the case. In these situations, we cannot guarantee that we will issue a prescription and our Drs decision in such circumstances is final.

Need to see a GP while you’re in our area?

Patients who are visiting the area or who return for a short period, for example to stay with family members, can register temporarily with us for up to 3 months. This enables them to access primary medical services whilst away from home, including emergency and immediately necessary care. After 3 months, the patient must either register permanently with us or their care reverts to their home GP practice. We will forward the details of any care provided to the home GP practice to be included in the patient’s medical record. Please note that while registered temporarily with us we have no access to your full medical record as it remains with your home GP Practice.

Here is a copy of the registration form that we will need completed prior to your appointment with us, to make an appointment please contact Reception on (01854) 612015.
